Overview

Our New Entrant Level 3 Domestic Electrical Package has been carefully designed to ensure all candidates, on successful completion, can work domestically and register with a Competent Person Scheme such as Napit if you wish. Our package blends both home study learning through our online learning platform, with practical focused training sessions in our meticulously designed and purpose-built training centre. Completion within 2 years is achievable for candidates who complete some home study weekly. Entry requirements

This package is aimed at any candidate who is wishing to join the electrical industry. Our training pathway gives each candidate the knowledge, skills and confidence in basic electrical knowledge and skills, right the way through to a competent electrician on successful completion. How is this course structured

After booking onto our package you will firstly attend an enrolment day, whereby you will receive an in-depth overview of the course, the online learning platforms, expectations from yourself and us, induction to our centre, collection of your training manuals. This ensures we have set all candidates up to get off to a flying start on their learning.

As a blended learning package, you will then be given your first set of modules to complete from the comfort of your own home or wherever you choose. You will be invited into our centre periodically after the completion of the appropriate modules for a practical session and these have been marked and signed off by our team. (Each practical session is four consecutive days and before each practical session you will have a bank of workbooks to complete)

Many topics are covered within your package both in the home study and practical training sessions. These include but are not limited too;

  • Health and safety
  • Risk assessments and method statements.
  • Electrical definitions, abbreviations, symbols, and electrical mathematics
  • Electrical industry tools, equipment and materials usage, understanding and requirements
  • Safe isolation of electrical installations in both single and three phase applications
  • B7671:2018 Amendment 2 2022, 18th Edition wiring regulations
  • Waste and usage regulations
  • Types of cables, identification, locations and methods of use
  • Cable sizing, voltage drops and safe installation
  • Different application of earthing arrangements
  • Earth loop impedance and cable behaviour
  • Electrical circuit types and identification
  • Installation, styles and application of electrical accessories
  • Recommended placement of electrical accessories in regards to building regulations
  • Consumer units, switchgear, and protective device installation methods and locations
  • International protection (IP) codes, both water and solid ingress
  • Initial verification and certification of new installations
  • Types of certification and reporting
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial locations
  • Design, quoting and communication skills for a real life working environment
  • Competence Person Scheme registration process and guidance
  • Business set-up support

There is a portfolio element required as part of this package which can be completed within centre at no additional cost. If you have the availability to complete this with a supporting electrician, this can also be accepted. Full portfolio requirements will be discussed with you by your trainer but feel free to ask our team for more information.

Throughout your entire course, access to all documents to aid your learning are on your online portfolio, alongside a dedicated home study contact in our office and your trainer to answer any questions along the way.

A total of 9 practical sessions needs to be attended (four days per session) in our training centre. With dedication this package can be completed within 2 years and enable you to be out working within a month after successful completion, either for yourself or a company.

Materials included, course costs & funding

This package includes everything required to complete the training, assessments, and gain certification of successful completion. As well as your training, assessments, certification fees, access to our e-learning platform, normative reference documents the following publications are provided to you to keep and aid your learning.

    FAQ'S

    Can I/We book all the practical training sessions as soon as I/We enrol?

    No, each practical training session is made available to you as soon as you complete the workbooks and training module associated with the practical session. You will however be provided multiple dates if needed due to prior commitments or you cannot attend one for any reason.

    What is the turn around time of marking for the home study learning?

    Our average turn around time for marking of workbooks is a week but we do have in our expectations document a turnaround time of 2 weeks in case of busy periods and an influx of work for our training team.

    In regards to the portfolio, does this have to be completed after the package?

    No, this is included in the list of topics covered and in the timeframe to complete your course and can be completed in your practical session should you need too. All writing up onto the e-learning platform is completed from the comfort of your own home but the practical portfolio, photographic evidence and any associated documentation can be completed in centre during your package.
