Who is This Course For?

This course is a specialist training package for experienced professionals who have been registered on the Gas Safe Register for at least 12 months. It’s the perfect way to renew your existing qualifications or add a valuable new skill to your portfolio. You can even complete this course up to 6 months before your current certification expires, with any remaining time rolling over to your new 5-year certification period.

To enrol, you must hold one of the following core qualifications:

  • CCN1 (Core Domestic Gas Safety)
  • COCN1 (Core Commercial Gas Safety)
  • COCNPI1LS and CPN1LS (Commercial Pipework and Commercial Pipework, Limited Scope)
  • CCCN1 (Core Commercial Catering Gas Safety)
  • CODNCO1 (Changeover Domestic to Commercial Gas)

This 3-day course is packed with essential, hands-on knowledge and is built around the industry-standard IGEM document IGE/UP/IA. Our expert instructors will guide you through every step, ensuring you have the skills to work safely and effectively.

Key topics covered include:

  • Industry Standards: An in-depth walk-through of the crucial IGEM document IGE/UP/IA.
  • Safe Work Procedures: Learn to complete risk assessments and method statements for all working procedures.
  • Testing Mastery: Master both strength testing for new installations and tightness testing for both new and existing installations.
  • Purging Techniques: Gain proficiency in safely purging installations, transitioning from air to gas and gas to air.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Learn the correct and safe use of purging pumps and purge stacks, including the proper setup for maximum safety.
  • Atmospheric Considerations: Understand the critical considerations for releasing methane and other hydrocarbons into the atmosphere.
  • Calculations & Diagnostics: Develop confidence in understanding and performing pipe sizing, purging, and strength testing calculations, and learn to read and interpret tables and graphs.
  • Technical Skills: Correctly use a range of gauges and test equipment, understand and produce line drawings, and use valves and controls in a commercial context.
  • Documentation: Learn how to accurately complete test results, certification, and the client handover process.
