The Ultimate Electrotechnical Apprenticeship

We are thrilled to launch our new and improved NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship. For over 11 years, we’ve refined our career-changer programme to create an apprenticeship like no other. We believe in providing the most comprehensive, hands-on training the electrical industry has ever seen.

Working in partnership with Achievement Training and Skills.

Why Our Apprenticeship Stands Out

Unlike traditional programmes, our focus is on real-world skills gained in realistic working environments. This isn’t about simply attending a class; it’s about a direct path to a new career. We provide a complete, stress-free journey to becoming a fully qualified professional. Read our blog on becoming an Electrician here!

Who Can Enrol?

Our programme is designed for everyone, from ages 16 to 65. Whether you have no prior experience or you’re a working electrician looking to formalise your qualifications, you can apply. We also welcome apprentices who may be looking to transfer from a different programme. If you’re unsure if you qualify, just reach out to us with your situation, and we’ll be happy to provide guidance. Find out more on the Gov website here!

Programme Details & Structure

Our apprenticeship programme runs for up to 48 months and includes a mix of in-centre training and on-the-job experience.

  • Funding: Achievement Training and Skills (ATS) are the apprenticeship training provider. Practical gas training takes place at our centre premises as part of the ATS apprenticeship programme.
  • Hands-On Learning: We keep our class sizes small, with only 8-10 candidates per session. This ensures you get plenty of one-on-one time with your trainer and ample opportunity for practical work.
  • Flexible Enrolment: Why wait until September? We offer flexible, quarterly enrolment dates so you can start your career journey without delay.
  • Convenient Schedule: The program requires just one day a week of in-centre training, running from 8:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. This makes it easy to balance your work and learning commitments. We also do not close for school holidays, keeping your training on track.
  • Employer Requirements: To enrol, you must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week under a PAYE scheme for the duration of the apprenticeship. If you need more information or assistance with this, we can arrange a meeting to discuss it further.
  • Online Portal Access: From day one, you’ll have access to our online study portal, which contains all theory materials. You can revisit these resources at any time to reinforce your learning.
Your Path to a Rewarding Career

When you enrol with us, you get everything you need to become a skilled, competent, and fully certified Electrician. You’ll be guided by expert trainers who are committed to helping you gain the confidence to thrive in the industry.

Our process is straightforward:

  1. Provide us with your employer’s details and your personal information.
  2. We handle all the initial paperwork and details with the funders.
  3. We’ll schedule a face-to-face meeting to explain the full programme, and from there, the rest is simple.
What qualifications will I gain?
  • Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations:
This award provides the skills needed to inspect, test, and issue a certificate for new electrical
installations to ensure they are safe and comply with regulations.
  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 Incorporating A3:2024:
This qualification, often referred to as the “18th Edition,” confirms an individual’s knowledge of the
latest wiring regulations that govern all electrical installations in the UK.
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings,
    Structures and the Environment):
This is a work-based qualification that demonstrates an individual’s competence in installing and
maintaining a wide range of electrical systems and equipment in real-world environments.
  • The AM2s Qualification:
The AM2s (Achievement Measurement 2) is a final, independent practical assessment that all
apprentices must pass to prove they are fully competent and qualified to work as an electrician.

Our NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed to provide you with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to become a highly competent electrician. The course is structured around key modules, ensuring you gain expertise in every aspect of the trade.

Safe Planning and Risk Assessment

Safety is paramount in the electrical industry. Apprentices will learn to prepare and complete a detailed risk assessment for their work environment. You will be observed as you perform live, practical exercise in safely isolating an electrical installation before you begin work, including:

  • Completing a professional risk assessment document.
  • Demonstrating safe isolation procedures on an active installation.
Advanced Installation and Maintenance

You will carry out a variety of installation and maintenance tasks according to specific industry standards. This includes working with new technologies and a wide range of circuits, such as:

  • Single-phase lighting and power circuits.
  • Single-phase and three-phase fixed equipment.
  • Three-phase motor circuits with remote controls.
  • Heating control circuits.
  • Emergency lighting and safety sensor circuits.
  • Installation of plastic and metal containment systems.
  • Data circuits.
  • Circuits for special locations.
Testing and Regulatory Compliance

A key part of your training will be learning to test installations in full compliance with the British Standard and other associated guidance documents. You will have access to these documents for reference throughout the course. This module includes:

  • Performing dead testing in the correct sequence.
  • Conducting live testing under the supervision of a NET-licensed independent assessor.
  • Completing an official Electrical Installation Certificate.
  • Performing functional testing to ensure the installation is operating correctly.
Fault Finding and Reporting

Apprentices will develop their diagnostic skills by interrogating electrical installations and identifying a range of faults on simulated faulty circuits. This hands-on experience will involve:

Identifying and professionally reporting a variety of common and complex faults.
