This course is designed for experienced heating professionals who want to master the latest industry standards for low-temperature systems. This LCL Awards Level 3 qualification is essential for meeting the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and ensuring all installations achieve maximum efficiency.

Who is this Course For?

This course is aimed at engineers already working in the heating, gas, or air source heat pump industries. To enrol, you must hold one of the following:

  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing, Heating & Ventilating (Domestic/Industrial/Commercial), Oil-Fired Technical Services, or Gas Installation and Maintenance.
  • Proof of Experience installing wet central heating systems, evidenced by manufacturer certifications or registration with Gas Safe Register, OFTEC, MCS, or HETAS.

 

What You’ll Learn

This two-day course covers the critical principles of designing and installing low-temperature systems. You will learn to:

  • Apply Regulations: Understand the latest standards and the regulatory framework for heating design.
  • Perform Calculations: Conduct room-by-room heat loss calculations and correctly size heat emitters, pumps, pipework, and domestic hot water systems.
  • Design Systems: Master the basic design principles for various system configurations.
  • Ensure Efficiency: Learn to design systems with a low-temperature approach from the outset to maximize efficiency, a key requirement of Part L of the Building Regulations.

This qualification was developed in collaboration with the CIPHE and the Heat Pump Association to address the industry’s evolving needs.

The course fee is all-inclusive, covering your training, assessments, and certification fees. You will also have access to in-center guides, including the Domestic Heating Design Guide and the CIPHE Low Temperature Qualification Guide.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding required to install low-temperature heating and hot water systems, enhancing your professional credibility and compliance.
