This Commercial Catering course is a mandatory requirement for any operative involved in working with non-domestic catering gas installations and and appliances. Whether you are looking to expand your existing gas qualifications or renew your current certification, our programme provides the necessary training to meet industry standards.

 

Course Entry Requirements

To enrol on this course, please ensure you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Existing Domestic or Commercial ACS Gas Qualification Holders: If you hold a current domestic or commercial ACS Gas qualification, you can complete our Commercial Catering changeover package. You must be registered on the Gas Safe Register for a minimum of 12 months. Evidence of your Gas Safe registration and ACS Gas certificate is required upon booking.
  • Renewing a Commercial Catering Qualification: If your Commercial Catering qualification is in date or has expired within the last 12 months, you can renew it by completing this course. You can enrol up to 6 months after the expiry date of your existing qualification, and the additional time will be added to the validity of your new certificate.

 

What You Will Learn

Our Commercial Catering course provides an in-depth and practical curriculum covering all critical aspects of commercial gas safety and installations. The course includes:

  • An in-depth review of the IGEM/UP/2 document.
  • Gas pipework in commercial kitchens, including gas interlock and automatic isolation valves.
  • Canopy and ventilation systems, including sizing and interlock systems.
  • Understanding and conducting risk assessments for commercial kitchens.
  • Ventilation requirements and standards.
  • Appliance controls and combustion.
  • Appliance installation, service, maintenance, commissioning, and certification.
  • A comprehensive look at the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
  • Training and assessment for the following COMCAT modules:
    • COMCAT1: Appliances with a gas rate of 35 kW or less.
    • COMCAT3: Fryers, griddles, and chargrills.
    • COMCAT5: Ovens and ranges.
    • CCCN1: Commercial Catering Core Gas Safety.

Upon successful completion, you will be well-prepared to handle the complexities of commercial gas installations and ensure the highest standards of safety in any catering environment.
