This comprehensive four-day course is designed for electrical professionals looking to gain the skills and certification to perform both Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection on electrical installations. Upon successful completion, you’ll be qualified to issue certificates, ensuring your work meets all legal and safety standards.

Who is this Course For?

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, making it accessible to any candidate wishing to upskill in the electrical industry. While not required, we do recommend prior electrical industry knowledge to get the most out of the course.

 

What You’ll Learn

This course provides an in-depth, hands-on understanding of the entire verification and certification process. You’ll cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Testing Procedures: Learn dead testing, live testing, and safe isolation procedures.
  • Results & Calculations: Understand how to interpret test results and perform calculations for resistance, earth loop impedance, prospective fault current, and more.
  • Inspections: Gain the skills to conduct both initial and periodic verification of electrical installations.
  • Fault Finding: Practical training on how to diagnose and find faults.
  • Documentation: Learn about the model forms and certificates from BS7671:2018:A2:2022.
  • Test Instruments: Proper usage and calibration of various test instruments.

We recommend having access to an 18th Edition regulations manual and the NAPIT on-site solutions guide for reference, though they are not mandatory. You can purchase these books at our center if you wish to own a copy.

 

Assessments & Certification

The course includes both practical and theoretical assessments. You will take online multiple-choice exams and complete a practical testing assessment. Our low candidate-to-invigilator ratios (8:1 for exams, 2:1 for practicals) ensure you get the support you need to succeed. The course must be completed within six months of your initial booking.

Upon successful completion, you will gain the LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification, Periodic Inspection Testing, Condition Reporting and Certification of Electrical Installations. The all-inclusive package covers all training, assessments, registration, and certification fees, as well as access to necessary reference documents.
