Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course, you must hold the following qualifications or have auditable evidence of prior work:

  • Current Water Regulations qualification
  • Current ACS or OFTEC qualification
  • OR
    • Evidence of prior work and a pass on our entry assessment
    • OR a Diploma Level 2 or NVQ in Plumbing
    • OR an NVQ Level 2 in Heating and Ventilation

You also need to have strong industry knowledge of plumbing skills.

What You’ll Learn

This three-day course combines both practical & theory training and practical & theory assessments to give you the skills you need to work with heat pumps. Key topics include:

  • Health & Safety: Risk assessments and regulations for heat pump systems.
  • System Knowledge: Understanding how heat pumps work, their components, and different system types.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Selecting the right heat pump, proper installation, commissioning, and system handover.
  • Maintenance & Diagnostics: Inspecting, servicing, repairing, and diagnosing faults.
  • Refrigerant Work: The requirements for working on the refrigerant side of heat pumps.

 

Qualification Gained

Upon successful completion, you will earn the LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps, a qualification recognised by MCS.

After booking and payment, we’ll request copies of your prerequisite qualifications. You will then receive a formal booking confirmation with all the course details. The three-day course will be held at our centre, covering all the training and assessments you need to succeed. All assessments are open-book, and we’ll provide a normative folder of documents for you to use.
