The small print regarding Gas Safe extensions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the Covid-19 pandemic many regulatory bodies have provided extensions for engineer’s subscriptions enabling work to still be carried out legally. The Gas Safe Register have provided guidance on the extensions permitted, stating:

Engineers whose ACS qualifications expire before 1st of October 2020, and who have been unable to book an ACS reassessment have been permitted to remain on the Register for up to six months from the expiry date on their ACS certificate while they arrange for a reassessment.

Engineers with ACS qualifications that expire on or after the 1st of October 2020 will need to renew their qualifications by the 31st of March. Engineers with ACS qualificationsexpiring after the 31st of March 2021 will be required to renew ACS by the qualification expiry date as shown on the certificate.

All engineers need to ensure they are conscious to remain a reassessment candidate as opposed to initial.  As soon as an ACS qualification expires over a 12-month period the candidate then under the scheme rules is to be assessed as an initial candidate.  Therefore, the assessments required are lengthier in addition to a higher quantity of theory assessments.

Here within Hampshire Trade Group Ltd, we have ACS Reassessment courses available for both in centre completion and training available for home study via our e-learning platform.

In Centre Package

Our ACS reassessment in centre course is provided by Hampshire Training and Assessment Ltd and runs over four consecutive days, consisting of one days training and three days assessments.  Training covers a refreshing update on current industry practices and any relevant changes, with the remaining time here completing both the theory and practical assessments.

All ACS elements held within the remit of CCN1 (core gas safety), CPA1 (combustion performance analysis), CKR1 (cookers), HTR1(fires and space heaters) , CENWAT (boilers and water heaters) are included in this package with the option of adding DAH1 (warm air heaters), MET1 (meters) should this be required.

Home Study Package

Our home study package is provided by Hampshire Distance Training and Assessments Ltd and can commence from the comfort of your own home.  After registration, your training materials (in the format of a PowerPoint presentation and workbook) will be provided via our e-learning platform links for completion.  Your designated trainer will be on hand to provide guidance and support, during your completion of the workbook and submission for marking.  On successful completion of the training materials your assessments will be booked for three days in centre.

Both packages are charged at only £645+vat, which includes for each engineer a LCL Awards domestic gas training manual, printed version of the unsafe situation’s guidance, training, assessments, and certification fees.

If an engineer’s qualifications have expired over a 12 month period, we do have an additional package available to complete the initial assessments as opposed to reassessment.
